Database Updated — Latest Balance Patch

The database now reflects the game's newest balance update, in all 14 languages. The biggest changes:

Spells

  • Cheaper to cast: Reality Distortion 21→15, Shackles 9→6, Mirror Copy 24→20, Anti-Magic 18→16, Web 11→9 mana
  • Stronger effects: Healing Water 25→50, Judgement 300→400, Inner Light buffed

Units & Heroes

  • Broad combat rebalance across ~90 units — damage, offence/defence, initiative, HP and build costs
  • ~60 heroes retuned: starting army sizes and several starting skills changed (Vesper, Motley, Adahn…)

Skills & Specializations

  • Offense / Defense bonus 15→10, Civic Innovation 100→30, Piercing Spells 20→25
  • 40 hero specializations retuned (scaling + activation levels); Sorcery now pairs with Mastery

Items

  • Monster Head now Rare (was Common), Ring of Neutrality now Rare (was Epic)

Buildings & Factions

  • Town build costs and build-tree layouts adjusted
  • Hive & Demon law-tier unlock thresholds changed

Marketplace Trade Calculator

The Marketplace page now has an interactive calculator — pick what you're spending and receiving, set how many marketplaces you own, and toggle the Economy skill to see the exact resources you'll get. The markup curve was verified against in-game values (300% → 250% → 200%, −50% per extra marketplace).

Artifact Merchant

The Artifact Merchant page now shows buy/sell prices (3× to buy, ⅓ to sell) and how many artifacts it stocks per rarity tier.

New Section: PvP Maps

All 56 ranked map templates are now in the database — so between turns you can finally check which map you drew and what you're playing for.

  • Each map shows its game mode (Single Hero / Classic), win condition (Classic, Capital Hold, Final Battle, City Hold, Tournament), player count, and size
  • Grouped by game mode, with a schematic thumbnail of the zone layout (player starts, cities, treasure zones) on every card
  • oldenera.th.gl/db/maps
  • These are procedurally generated, so object positions vary each match — the schematic shows the zone structure, not fixed spawns.

Summoned Avatar Scaling

The Summoner skill now shows exactly how strong the summoned Avatar gets — it scales 1:1 with your hero's Spell Power and Knowledge, with the base stats listed.

How Diplomacy Works

The Diplomacy skill page now explains the join-chance factors — relative army strength, mood/reaction, matching unit types, hero stats — instead of leaving it a mystery (it's not a flat 0% on an even fight).

Spell & Mechanics Fixes

  • Inner Light and other buff/obstacle spells now show their real values instead of ?
  • Game Mechanics now lists ranged-combat penalties (per-hex distance falloff + the melee penalty)

Quality of Life

  • Page text is now selectable — you can copy stats, formulas, and names straight off the page

Faction Laws

  • Per‑tier breakdown with real numbers filled in (no more {0} / +X% placeholders)
  • Law lists sorted by point cost, with cost shown on each card
  • Fixed double %% and removed unhelpful internal labels

Spell Pages

  • Fixed swapped duration/effect values on spells like Radiant Armor

Skill Pages

  • Per‑level descriptions show real numbers instead of a literal X

Hero Hover Tooltips

  • Hovering a hero card now shows their specialization (name + effect) instead of backstory, so you can compare heroes at a glance while drafting

Artifact Sets

  • Hover any set card on the artifacts page to see its tiered set bonuses without clicking in

Artifact Slots

  • Main Hand and Off Hand were swapped — weapons now correctly live under Main Hand, shields/secondary under Off Hand

Damage Formula

  • Game Mechanics page updated to the actual Olden Era formula: Final Damage = Base Damage × Stack Size × (20 + ATK) / (20 + DEF)

Sub‑Skill Pages

  • Each sub‑skill now shows its parent skill + tier (e.g. Formation (Expert)) as a clickable link
  • Battle‑bonus rows resolve to readable variant labels (Warrior / Mage / Campaign / Arena)

Performance

  • Fixed a memory leak where ads accumulated on every page navigation, ballooning RAM past 2 GB after extended browsing

Spell Pages — Full Mastery Breakdown

  • Each spell now shows per‑mastery effect text for None / Basic / Advanced / Expert, with placeholders filled from the spell's actual buff data (durations, % modifiers, etc.)
  • Spellpower scaling rule surfaced explicitly — e.g. Twilight shows "Duration scales with hero Spellpower: +1 round per 6 Spellpower"
  • "Upgrade" section explains exactly what each mastery jump adds (e.g. "Base effect duration: 1 > 2", "Targets deal –15% Melee Damage", "Affects all enemy creatures")
  • New Learn Cost (with resource icons) and Upgrade Cost per mastery tier

Cost Rows with Real Resource Icons

  • Unit, hero and building costs render as 4,000 🪙 2 💎 with real gold/gemstones/wood/ore/crystals/dust/mercury sprites instead of plain text
  • Each amount carries the localized resource name as a hover/tooltip + screen‑reader label
  • Building cost columns benefit too — every level shows the right icons per resource

Hover Tooltips Fixed

  • Unit tooltips now show HP, ATK, DEF, DMG, INI, SPD (some were silently missing before because of a property‑name mismatch)
  • Upgrades show deltas vs the base unit — e.g. Rift Arbitrator tooltip reads ATK: 22 (+2), DEF: 24 (+4), INI: 12 (+7), SPD: 5 (+1)
  • <b>/<i> markup that used to render literally as <b>does not</b> is now stripped out
  • Sub‑skill "Battle bonus:" rows resolve to readable names (Warrior, Campaign, Mage, …) instead of internal skill_warrior_and_mage_… sids

Hero Page — Specialization Inline

  • Specialization name + description now render directly on the hero page (no more clicking through just to read what it does)
  • {0} / {1} placeholders in the spec description are filled from the spec's bonus params (e.g. Ister now reads "He has +5% Movement points for every 5 hero level(s)…" inline)
  • "View details →" link remains for the full effects breakdown

Sub‑Skill Pages Show Their Parent

  • Each sub‑skill page now shows the parent skill + tier it unlocks at, as a clickable link in the header — e.g. on sub_skill_formation_4 the header now reads Sub‑Skill · Formation (Expert)

Upgrade Path Icon Fix

  • The unit upgrade chain (and other cross‑link cards across the site) sometimes rendered a wrong icon (e.g. Rift Arbitrator showed a Ra'shoth icon). Fixed — every icon now uses the current version hash, so stale sprites can't bleed through

Artifact List — Hand Slots Corrected

  • Artifact slot labels for Main Hand and Off Hand were swapped — weapons (swords, bows, staves) were filed under "Off Hand" and shields/secondary items under "Main Hand". Now correctly labeled

Game Mechanics Page

  • New Game Mechanics page with verified info from game files
  • Damage formula DM = (20 + Attack) / (20 + Defense), Luck/Morale ranges (−5 to +5), faction-mix Morale penalty table, retaliation rules, ranged penalties
  • Stat labels (HP, ATK, DEF, Luck, Morale, etc.) link to the relevant section with hover tooltips explaining the mechanic

Hover Previews Everywhere

  • All listing pages (heroes, spells, units, skills, etc.) now show entity previews on hover — no need to open new tabs to compare
  • Hero tooltips include: faction, class, starting attributes (ATK/DEF/SP/INT), specialization, starting skills, starting army
  • Specialization tooltips show description + bonuses
  • Cross-linked entities throughout the site get the same preview treatment

Town Build Trees

  • Each faction page now shows the full town build tree at the bottom, laid out exactly like the in-game town view (using the game's nodePos coordinates)
  • SVG arrows connect every prerequisite to its dependent — see at a glance what unlocks what
  • Building list now includes 10 previously missing faction-unique buildings (Skeleton Converter, Well of Souls, Mycelium Roots, Rebirth Shrines, etc.)

Skill Synergies ("Compatible With")

  • Skill pages now show which other skills double their effects, parsed from in-game descriptions
  • Example: Offense lists Luck (via Battle March), Resistance (via Chronic Weakness), and Nightshade Magic (via Shadow Blades)
  • Quoted skill names inside descriptions are clickable links to those skills

Skill Page Fixes

  • Faction skills (e.g. Righteousness) now show their actual per-level effect text instead of broken placeholder references
  • Sub-skill bonus descriptions resolve cleanly — e.g. Strong Mounts now reads "Second Wind mana cost: –4" instead of raw spell IDs
  • Many bonus types now render correctly: spell power per school, magic counters, resource gain, summon bonuses, scouting range, mana restore, and more

Unit Page Fixes

  • Unit ability and passive descriptions now display (Flying, Ranged Attack, faction-specific abilities, etc.)
  • Stat labels link to the mechanics page with tooltips

Themed Scrollbar

  • Build tree and other horizontally-scrolling content use a styled scrollbar matching the site theme
